| Success in SchoolHere are things you can do to help your student succeed in school.
- Attendance is key - Make sure your student attends school every day, on time.
- How about homework? Check to see that your student does homework and finishes assignments.
- Meet the teachers - Attend parent-teacher conferences. To get ready, check out our conference tips.
- Something extra - Activities and clubs fuel a student's interest. Read the information your school sends home to learn about what the school offers. Talk with teachers and other parents to find out what programs your student might enjoy.
- Get connected - Establish a positive relationship with someone at the school. This may be the teacher, the social worker, counselor or advisor (if your student is in high school). If something concerns you, this person can answer questions and help you find solutions that will help your student.
- Involve your extended family - If you cannot attend a school activity, ask a family member or close friend to attend in your place. Grandparents, uncles or aunts may be honored by your invitation. Your child will also benefit from the broad base of support.
